As far as marshmallows go, they taste fine.Toasting them is interesting. At first glance it seems makes good sense. Well, not exactly. The rounded shape of the "traditional" marshmallows is more suited to toasting. If that's what you want. I don't think the square, thin shape of this marshmallow was designed for toasting. And I like my S'more with a hot, toasted marshmallow melting it's way through the chocolate.I can think of several uses in cooking/baking where this thin, flat shape, would come in very useful. But, for my s'more, I'll be sticking to the more familiar shape marshmallow.Well, it's a ton of marshmallows, so they are pretty much what you expect. They are nice little flat rectangles. They make great smores in the microwave, but not so great over the fire. If you want smores over the campfire, these are not for you.I love frozen marshmallows. It's the dessert I like to eat. These flat ones are perfect because they don't stiffen and stay tasty when frozen. The idea here is great---square marshmallows for s'mores---but in reality they are not an improvement over the standard shape. These are really only good for making microwave s'mores, because they're way too thin to roast over a fire. I only recommend buying these online in an emergency, all 8 packages I got were very "smooshed" with the marshmallows well fused together. It's an eight pack of marshmallows - you can't go too wrong, right? Mine were a bit sticky when they arrived, like perhaps they were a bit aged? But they're tasty, they work well in smokes and marshmallow treats, and we're eating them up.These marshmallows are amazing for smores. Check the amount being ordered, I have bags and bags left over that I have no idea what to do with.I'm not sure why no one thought of this idea years ago. If you love making s'mores, as my kids do, these are the perfect marshmallows. Who am I kidding--they are the perfect marshmallows for anything! I like putting them on top of brownies or toasting them over dessert (toasted marshmallow on ice cream, anyone?). Thanks to Amazon's Subscribe-and-Save feature, I'll probably never buy another kind of marshmallow again.I bought these months ago and never really used they, have put them in the freezer and hope they will be okay.
